Placement Tests

Our Placement Tests help you to determine the level that is the most appropriate for your child to begin with in our programs. Please note that our lessons are mastery-based, not grade-level-based. This means that our students are placed where they are ability-wise, not according to age or grade level.

GR Reading Program

General Guidelines (IMPORTANT!)

Before beginning any of the Placement Tests, you are strongly recommended to read through the guidelines below.

  • The Placement Tests are only for GR Reading Program. GR Pre-Reading Program does not have any Placement Test.
  • Take note of the number of sections for each Placement Test. Each section is to be completed by either your child, or you, or both. The number of sections will be included under the Guidelines for each Placement Test.
  • If your child cannot read, you are allowed to read the instructions to him or her (only for Level 1).
  • For Level 1 only, take a moment to read through the instructions in Section 2 BEFORE beginning it with your child. Your voice has to be loud and clear as you are reading the sentence or story and asking questions to your child.
  • In order to get the most accurate and unbiased result, DO NOT give hints or tips to your child.
  • You shall keep a calm and composed face when your child is answering the questions, as he or she may be able to guess the correct answer from your facial expression.
  • The Placement Test can be done at any time of the day. But it is the best to be done when your child is well rested and in a good health condition.
  • Only ONE child is allowed to take the Placement Test each time. If you have more than one child, you can submit another Placement Test after the first child has completed his or her Placement Test.

GR Spelling Program

Our GR Spelling Program is a building block program, where each level builds upon the previous one. The rules and concepts learned in Level 1 are applied in Level 2, and then those are applied in Level 3, and so on. In order to have a solid foundation in spelling, we strongly recommend that all students to start with Level 1.

Is my child ready to start spelling?

We recommend starting spelling instructions once your child has completed our GR Reading Level 1, or equivalent.
